She had two goals and eight games of her own which helped the magicJack earn a league-leading third place finish in the year. The magicJack dissolved in late 2011, and then the WPS was disbanded at the start of 2012. Rapinoe played for a short time in the Sydney Football Club FC (Australian W-League) in 2011 before heading back in the United States. The next team she joined was the Seattle Washington Sounders Women. Now the Sound FC. Rapinoe's 2013 season was spent playing soccer in France. She was a member of Seattle Reign FC, now OL Reign in the National Women's Soccer League NWSL that had been formed following the demise of WPS. She competed at her second Olympics that took place in Rio de Janeiro Brazil, 2016. In Rio the U.S. team was eliminated in the quarterfinals. The first time Rapinoe played in the FIFA Women's World Cup was in 2011. She helped lead her team U.S. Women's World Cup team to consecutive victories in the year 2015. In 2018, she was cocaptain for the U.S. national team. Rapinoe has was a goal scorer for United States in the 4-3 win over Australia at the Olympics bronze medal match in Tokyo in 2020 because of the COVID-19 virus which Japan was forced to postpone until 2021 as a result of this pandemic, also was awarded the gold medal at Tokyo in the year 2016.
